Jhumka Films is an Australian production company founded in 2016 by Pradnya Dugal and Tej Dugal, with the goal of creating authentic films that tell stories with real-life humanistic qualities, exploring cross-cultural themes that are representative of our diverse cultural demographics, and supporting upcoming independent filmmakers. Jhumka Films was a key production company in association with two acclaimed feature films that premiered in competition at Sundance Film Festival – Farewell Amor (2020) and The Sound of Silence (2019), which both went on to international distribution. Jhumka Films produced a Bollywood film Shoor Aamhi Sardaar (2017), with theatrical distribution in India. Maasa (2022)is an Australian/Indian collaboration, that premiered as an Official Selection at Mumbai International Film Festival, is a contender for the 2022 AACTA Award for Best Short Film, and is garnering the interest of international film festivals.


Tej Dugal is an executive producer and co-owner of Jhumka Films, based in Sydney, Australia. His film credits include two feature films which premiered in competition at the Sundance film festival – “Farewell Amor” (2020) and “The Sound of Silence” (2019). Both films went on to achieve international distribution. He has extensive experience in business management across a wide range of interests, and is a doctor by profession. With these skills, he brings great expertise and energy to the Jhumka Films production team for Maasa.

Sandesh Kulkarni has written Maasa specially for Phulawa Khamkar, with the locale of Nagaon, Alibaug, particularly in mind for the story’s backdrop. He is also a key member of the cast, playing the role of Sumedh


Amol Gole is an Indian cinematographer who shot Hindi films like Stanley Ka Dabba, Hawaa Hawaai, Elizabeth Ekadashi, Touring Talkies, Investment, Mogara Phulala, Ashihi Ashiqui, Pawankhind. He has also directed Rangaa Patangaa (2015), Nashibvaan(2019) and Sumi (to be released). Other notable film credits include Jaane Tu, Ghajini, Rang de Basanti. Besides feature films, he has also shot many ad films, documentaries and short films. He won Best Cinematographer Award at Pune International Film Festival 2015 for Elizabeth Ekadashi.

Dilip graduated in 1995 from the renowned Sir. J. J. Institute of Applied Art, Mumbai with a major in Photography. In 1997, he started his career as an Assistant Art Director for Television series and Commercials. Two years later in 1999 he went solo and in less than three years, was working for International Productions shot in India. This gave Dilip unmatched exposure and honed his skills while working with Globally acclaimed Directors. Today his expertise includes referencing, planning, execution, designing and construction. His team is extremely familiar with every aspect of filmmaking and well equipped to face various tasks. His impressive portfolio includes international feature films Mission Impossible, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Victoria and Abdul, Hotel Mumbai, Zero Dark Thirty, A Mighty Heart, and Save Your Legs to name a few. His international TV series credits include Beecham House, McMafia, and Sense8.

Nilesh is an Indian music director who has composed music for many prominent films like Yanda Kartavya Ahe, Irada Pakka, Shree Partner, Jai Maharashtra, Dhaba Bhatinda, Mangalashtak Once More, Mitwaa, Photocopy, Laal Ishq, Ti Saddhya Kay Karte, Whats Up Lagna, Savita Damodar Paranjape, Mumbai Pune Mumbai -3. Has has won many presitigious awards for his compositions since 2004 including the Filmfare, Zee Gaurav, Zee Marathi Radio Mirchi Award, Sanskriti Kaladarpan and MaTa Sanman.

Kshitija has won the Maharashtra State Award for Best Editing for Dagadi Chawl(2015) and she is known for movies like Mitwa(2015), Savita Damodar Paranjape(2018), Madhuri(2018), Fugay, Poshter Girl, Baal Bharti and Har Har Mahadev. Other film credits include Tula Kalnnaar Nahi, Palyadawasi, Chiranjeev, Kaagaz Ke Fools, Ye Moithers, and Harun-Arun. She has many TV series credits including Tera Yaar Hoon Main, Ishq Mein Marjawan, Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi, and Ek Veer Ki Ardaas: Veera.

Vijay Bhope is a sound engineer who works in the Bollywood film industry for over two decades. He made his debut in the industry with Mandi, when he worked as an assistant sound engineer. His next film was Jeevan Sandhya, where he worked as a sound recordist. From there he solidified his place in the industry and went on to work as both a sound recordist and sound engineer on movies like Utsav, Bhavna, Club 60, Angaar, Talaash, Karm Yodha, Ek Hi Maqsad, Paroma, Kairee, Maati Maay and many more. He also worked as a writer on the film Rui Ka Bojh.

Amar Khamkar is the co-owner of Indian production company PSDG Studios Production, partnering with his wife Phulawa Khamkar. He has co-produced the short film Maasa, an Australian/Indian collaboration with Jhumka Films, which premiered in competition at Mumbai International Film Festival 2022. Maasa is gathering momentum at film festivals both in India and worldwide. He has many years of experience in assisting with production for events in the Indian entertainment industry, particularly from the dance/choreography aspect, on behalf of PSDG Studios. Amar is a Commerce graduate, with 30+ years of business experience in the spice industry and retail, and he is a partner of the Ashok Khamkar Masala spice company in India.

Nitin Shirke is a Indian production manager/production controller with many years of experience in TV and film since 2003.  Film credits include Marathi films Kurup (2018) and Harishchandrachi Factory (2009). TV series credits include Baaji, Rudram, Bun Maska, Duheri, Dil Dosti Duniyadari, Kahani Mein Twist, and many more. He has recently worked on a Marathi web series Anuradha (2021). Nitin has worked as production manager and project head for production houses such as Indian Magic Eye, Dreaming Twenty Four Seven, The Film Clique, and Diamond Entertainment.

  • Amruta Subhash

Amruta, an acclaimed Indian actress who works in films, television, and theatre, most recently starred in Bombay Begums, and Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy.  She is a graduate from the National School of Drama, New Delhi. She made a splashing debut with the National Award winning film and India’s Oscar entry for the year, Shwaas. She has won a National Award and a Filmfare Award for role in Astu, as a supporting actress. She has starred in numerous critically acclaimed films that have won awards across the world, such as Crystal Bear at the Berlin Film Festival and Fedeora Award at the Venice Film Festival. She is also a trained classical singer who has lent her voice to various Marathi films. For her playback singing, she’s won awards like Maharashtra Government State Award for the film Nital. Recently, she starred in Selection Day, a Netflix Original and Chausar opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Amruta was a part of the recently released Sacred Games season 2 where her role as raw agent was particularly praised. In 2021, she received the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for Bombay Begums, as well as Asian Academy Creative Awards for Best Supporting Female Actor.

  • Jyoti Subhash


Jyoti Subhash is an Indian actress. and mother of actress Amruta Subhash. Best known for her supporting roles in Marathi films, Jyoti has also appeared in a handful of Bollywood movies such as Gully Boy (2019), several plays and TV shows. She has appeared in critically acclaimed Marathi films like Dahavi Pha (2002), Pak Pak Pakaak (2005), Valu (2008), Gabhricha Paus (2009), Fandry (2013) and Sairat (2016). Other notable acting credits include Dhoosar (2011), Chi Va Chi Sau Ka (2017) and the Hindi films Phoonk (2008), Aiyyaa (2012), and Pad Man (2018).

  • Sandesh Kulkarni


Sandesh is an actor and director known for his work in Marathi and Hindi cinema. Significant acting credits include Gulmohar (2009), Coffee Ani Barach Kahi (2015) and 2016 Bollywood action-thriller film Rocky Handsome. He made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed Marathi comedy-drama film Masala (2012) starring Girish Kulkarni.  Other notable film credits as an actor include the fantasy comedy-drama Andya Cha Funda (2017), Shwet, Lucky Man, and Cycle (2018). Sandesh also played a role in Netflix’s popular original, Sense8. He was mostly recently seen in Sacred Games season 2, Good Karma Hospital, and the TV series Mumbai Diaries 26/11.  Sandesh is also the writer for Maasa.

  • Nayan Jadhav


Nayan Jadhav is known for his roles in Marathi cinema. Some of his notable film credits include Bedhadak (2018), Preetam (2021) and Sutradhaar (2013), Bai Go Bai and Monkey Baat (2018), a Marathi family comedy directed by Viju Mane. He is associated with the 2018 Marathi comedy-drama-romance Love Lafde directed by Sachin R. Ambat.

Vajra is an emerging child actor. His first debut film was “Ghoda” which won the prestigious “Dadasaheb Phalke Special Jury Award” in the year 2021. He has acted in various short films in Marathi language such as Fodnichi Poli, Chatak, Nikad and Maasa. He has played a lead role in a Marathi web series- Athang. He also has played small roles in Marathi serials like Mrs. Mukhyamantri, Devmanus, Ghetla Vasa Taku Nako.
