Director’s Note

Creation of a film is a team effort, and when your team stands by you, then anything is possible. “Maasa” is my tiny first step toward my dream of directing a feature film!

Phulawa Khamkar, Director

After doing choreography for more than 10 years, I realised that this process of film making gives me immense satisfaction and I need to direct a film. Before embarking upon a feature film, I wanted to do a short film to better understand the whole process of film making!! Sandesh Kulkarni wrote this beautiful soulful story Maasa for me, and so this journey towards direction began…. I was very determined to get the correct cast and crew on board as it was my first venture and it was a very soulful subject. I was glad that the best people came on board including the actors, production designer, DOP, music director, and last but not least, our producers…..Jhumka films by Pradnya and Tej Dugal! For a first timer like me it was the most important thing, which gave me a lot of confidence and encouragement.
